Symptoms of Allergies

Allergy symptoms can be annoying or even life-threatening. It is important to know what the symptoms of various allergies are and seek treatment for allergies quickly to avoid the suffering from these reactions.

Seasonal allergies usually result from inhalation or contact with pollen or plant substances in the air when plants are in bloom. Frequently, these allergy symptoms appear in the spring, summer and autumn of the year and last only as long as the allergen is in the air or in the presence of the allergic person. Symptoms of these allergies include itchy, watery eyes, aching sinuses cavities often generalized as a headache, sneezing, stuffy nose, coughing, and in some cases, skin rashes or itching. Control measures are frequently avoidance and medication, either over the counter or obtained by prescription.

Allergy symptoms that appear during the night and in the early morning are frequently the result of an allergy to dust mites. This allergy is astonishingly common with many millions of sufferers having symptoms each day. Stuffy head, headache, runny nose, red, watery eyes and sneezing are frequently symptoms associated with this allergen. Control measures involve removing the allergen and preventing the allergen from contact with the use of special bedding supplies that prevent dust mites from causing the allergic response.

Medication allergies can appear as a rash, as difficulty breathing or nausea. If you have recently begun taking any type of medication that you have never taken in the past and have any type of unusual reaction, it should be considered a possible allergic reaction and medical advice should be immediately sought. Some medication allergies can be life-threatening and fast action is required to prevent death.

Food allergies can result in a rash or in an anaphylactic reaction which constricts the throat and causes difficulty breathing. Serious food allergies can result in death so immediate action should be taken if difficulty breathing should occur.

Another life-threatening allergic reaction can be to the sting from an insect. Bee stings are the most common type of allergy in humans and this can result in death if immediate action is not taken. If, after being stung by an insect even if the insect is not identified, should any symptoms of difficulty breathing or racing heart beat be noted, immediate medical help is needed to prevent a potentially life-threatening situation.

Allergy symptoms are the body's way to telling us that something is wrong. Should you have any symptoms, a physician can identify and treat the problem and advise you of management techniques to avoid unnecessary allergy symptoms.

Signs And Symptoms of Allergies
There are a wide range of potential signs and symptoms of allergies, and they depend on many factors: route of exposure, type of allergy, level of exposure. Because these signs and symptoms may indicate the presence of another disease rather than an allergy, they should be investigated by your physician.

Allergy Symptoms
Listed are mild and severe symptoms associated with each common type of allergy. Because each individual can have unique reactions, your symptoms may differ or may include one, some, or all of those listed. Call your doctor if your symptoms are severe or persistent.

7 Symptoms of Allergies From Airborne Substances
As soon as the allergen lands on the mucous membranes lining the inside of the nose, a chain reaction occurs that leads the mast cells in these tissues to release histamine and other chemicals. These powerful chemicals contract certain cells that line some small blood vessels in the nose. This allows fluids to escape, which causes the nasal passages to swell, resulting in nasal congestion.

What Are the Signs And Symptoms of Allergies?
The type and severity of allergy symptoms vary from allergy to allergy and child to child. Symptoms can range from minor or major seasonal annoyances (for example, from pollen or certain molds) to year-round problems (from allergens like dust mites or food).

Allergy Symptoms
The immune system normally responds to harmful substances such as bacteria, viruses and toxins by producing symptoms such as runny nose and congestion, post-nasal drip and sore throat, and itchy ears and eyes. An allergic reaction can produce the same symptoms in response to substances that are generally harmless, like dust, dander or pollen.

Possible Symptoms And Complications of Allergies
Symptoms of allergies include nasal congestion, coughing, wheezing, itching, shortness of breath, hives, rashes, itchy eyes, headache and fatigue. There are various allergic responses (such as asthma, hay fever, rashes and acne). Stress and anger can aggravate allergies, especially in those with weakened immune systems.
